A stronger European recycling industry

The Dutch Waste Management Association has joined EuRIC, the European Recycling Industries’ Confederation. By working together the two organisations can better represent the interests of recycling companies in Europe and speed up the transition to the circular economy.

Emmanuel Katrakis, secretary general EuRIC en Florens Slob, chair of the DWMA Recycling and Collection Section

Florens Slob, chair of the DWMA Recycling and Collection Section, is delighted with the EuRIC membership: ‘EuRiC is a dynamic and growing European recycling industry platform which works closely with European policymakers to support and accelerate the transition to a circular economy. This is entirely in line with the aims of the DWMA and the key role we see for recycling in this vital transition.’

EuRIC represents 5,500 companies. They recycle about 150 million tonnes of waste each year, provide jobs for 300,000 people and have a combined annual turnover of 95 billion euros. EuRIC welcomes the DWMA as a new Member. Dominique Maguin, EuRIC President: ‘It is a great pleasure to count the Dutch Waste Management Association among its members at such a crucial time for the waste management and recycling industries.’ The Dutch Waste Management Association joins EuRIC when the European Union discusses the new Circular Economy Package under the leadership of the Dutch Council Presidency. ‘Waste is a resource. The DWMA, which is a true partner in the circular economy, will bring its expertise in a number of resource streams and strengthen the plea for EU-wide pull mechanisms to boost markets for recycled materials.’
